Informative article and your solutions are on the money.

Affiliates lose lots of money if they send customers directly to the merchant’s sales page. Most people don’t buy on the first visit to a sales page. The merchant will capture the potential customer’s name and email address and follow-up with them and the affiliate will not get the commission.

As you mentioned, it’s best to pre-sell first and capture the the name and email address so you, the affiliate, can do the follow-ups and earn the commission.

Today’s affiliate marketplace is highly competitive and to make sales you need to offer more and also do a great job of pre-selling. That’s why a good landing page is so important.
